Your photos will be an essential way to capture your special moments and will become something you will cherish forever. And since a professional wedding album will be a work of art, it will become one of your most prized records of one of the most important days of your lives. So choose a professional wedding photographer to help you create something you can look back on with the fondest memories.

A true professional photographer not only have mastered the technical side of operating a camera and the way light works, but is also a master in capturing emotions, events and the romance that make up a beautiful wedding day.

Choosing a photographer

This is certainly an industry where you get what you pay for, since expert photography doesn’t come cheap.

A professional photographer will know how to put you at ease and guide you step-by-step throughout your wedding day. Since they not only have done many weddings before, but also invest heavily in high quality equipment, they know how to capture artistic images of your day and ensure perfect results.

Certification

Take notice whether the photographer or company has won any awards and whether or not they are members of the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography).

That will ensure you that you are hiring a professional and that you work to a high standard.

Arrange Appointments

Appointments with the photographers that interest you are of critical importance, since you will be able to view their work in person as well as see whether you like them and get along well.

If the studio you visit has more than one photographer, make sure you meet the one that will be photographing your wedding.

Try to dedicate one of your planning weeks solely to selecting a photographer so that all the information is fresh in your mind and you can make a good decision.

Before your appointment, look at as much of a photographer’s work as possible. Then, during your appointment with them, ask to view a recently completed wedding album done for a client. Not only must you like their photographic style but also feel comfortable with them and feel that you can trust them.

Ask them what their appearance is like on a wedding day so that you are not let down by them.

Before leaving the studio, make sure you completely understand how their wedding packages work so you know what you are getting. Make sure you know what extra album pages or photos will cost and ask them what the average wedding album from their studio ends up costing.

Copyright

Even if you receive the high resolution images with your wedding packages, remember that you then don’t have follow up quality in regards to prints results.

A professional photographer will want to photograph your whole wedding as well as ensuring the quality down to the last reprint to be reproduced expertly. They will want to show off their work optimally.

They will also want to hold onto the copyright for which they will ask you to agree before they accept your booking. This makes sense when you put yourself in their position.

Payment

Once you have decided on your photographer, don’t delay in getting the required deposit and contract to them. The popular photographers get booked very quickly, especially in the popular months of the year.

You will be expected to pay for the full wedding package before the wedding day. This is standard practice. You may consider paying through installments leading up to the wedding.

Videography

Think about the style for your video. Perhaps a documentary style record of all the events of the day or capture your whole story since before the wedding day.

You can have a video done either professionally or home video style. You can capture all the details from the bridal waltz to the expressed emotions.

Choose themed music and subtitles and turn this into your own masterpiece!
